Kotaku Japan posted about 8Bit Love: a doujinshi about retrogames toys and gadgets produced by 3 of my best friends in Japan: Oikawa (sernior editor of the cult videogame magazine GameLabo), Mushia (from Gizmodo Japan) and the super kawaii photographer Julie (aka Amano Ai). This book has been released on 31th december during the winter Comiket 77.

During the Comiket 77 at the RSK booth I spotted the prototype of the Alice Soft Itasha Die Cast model car that will be relaesed in april by Kyosho.

Yesterday I met the Japanese super blogger Jin who will release his doujinshi during Comiket 77. This book features also Brian Ashcraft from Kotaku so if you are attending fuyocomi you can miss this limited edition blogger's doujinshi!!

Some friends are working on GAKUGEIKAI: a new doujin manga that will be released during the last day of Comiket. Behind this manga there are a couple of famous mecha and videogame designers so I'm pretty sure it will be really succesfull!!! It's a shame that on 30th December, when Comiket will open I will be on a plane sipping a good sake while flying to London... _

Our friend akiba idol Amano Ai, today at the Tokyo Big Sight, has spotted these uber-otaku bishoujo Mineral Water bottles .

During Comiket I had the chance to meet Yuu Aine who will star in one of the Hatsume Miku ero parody AV DVD's that will be released in Febraury. She was cosplaying on the second day of Comiket 73 and she has definitely been the most popular Miku cosplayer of the day!!

I just come back to my base after the Comiket marathon.
I meet many old and new friends like Danny Choo, Amano ai, Hobibox staff (my old company), Blasterhead, Sharpnel and many doujin and eroge makers. It's impressive to watch how otaku culture  was already alive and kicking in Japan more than  20 years ago when the western geekdom was still trapped into the Marvel super heroes universe...  1985 was a special year for Comiket since in that year Yoshihiro Yonezawa established the Comiket Ltd. to better manage an event that was already getting big and in the same year the female presence among attendees started to rise thanks to the success of Yaoi phenomenon linked to Captain Tsubasa parodies...

Oggi e' il primo giorno del Comiket: la fiera del fumetto (doujin) piu' grande del mondo.  Sul prossimo numero di GAMERS troverete un reportage completo, per il momento vi consigliamo di leggere il reportage di Shingo.

Lo confessiamo: siamo dei blogger fortunati!! Stiamo facendo le valige per andare in Giappone per la stagione degli eventi otaku: Comiket, Wonderfestival, Jamma, TGS, etc. (un ringraziamento speciale alla JAL per l'ottimo sake che servono anche in classe economica! Kampai!!)  Ci scusiamo anticipatamente se per qualche giorno il blog non sara' aggiornato!

Il leggendario gruppo Studio Siesta ha appena postato la demo di Trouble Witches: uno shoot'em up che verrà venduto durante l'edizione estiva del Comiket.
 

Il doujin cirle Souvenir circ. ha appena postato una demo di "Suzumiya Haruhi no chourantou": un  picchiaduro  doujin dedicato al leggendario anime  Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuzu che presto tornerà con una seconda attesissima serie. 
Purtroppo la demo non è giocabile ma serve a capire l'incredibile livello qualitativo dei doujin game (equivalente giapponese dei nostri homebrew). La versione completa sarà messa in vendita durante il Comiket di agosto.

 

Nelle settimane precedenti, negli USA, si sono tenuti due eventi dedicati al retrogaming e al retrocomputing: il Vintage Computing Festival e il Midwest Gaming Classic (le foto sono della scorsa edizione). Si tratta pero' solo di eventi minori in attesa del leggendario Classic Gaming Expo che si terrà il 28 e il 29 luglio a Las Vegas (purtroppo in contemporanea dell'imperdibile Comicon di San Diego). Che dire: questa estate, per il geek jet set luglio si trascorre negli USA (vedi anche E3 ridimensionato) mentre ad agosto la tappa obbligata è Tokyo (Comiket e WonFes)...

Akiba Blog ha fotografato i primi poster promozionali del Comiket 72: la leggendarie fiera di manga e videogiochi autoprodotti che si terrà presso il Tokyo Big Sight fra il 17 e il 19 agosto.  Ad essere precisi questi poster sono stati esposti dal negozio Messe Sanoh e annunciano l'uscita del catalogo dell'evento.
Nei tre giorni di fiera espongono migliaia di gruppi di appassionati (doujin circles) e il catalogo  è alto come un elenco telefonico (per fortuna c'è anche la versione su CD-Rom). L'uscita di questa guida segna l'inizio del febbrile countdown verso il Comiket  ed è quasi un acquisto obbligato visto che senza la guida è praticamente impossibile trovare quello che si  cerca visto che ogni giornata della fiera ha un tema differente.
Yoshihiro Yonezawa, che ha organizzato il primo Comiket nel 1975, è morto il primo ottobre 2006 e quando durante l'edizione invernale della fiera c'è stato un minuto di silenzio un brivido di commozione (e di orgoglio otaku) ha unito tutti i partecipanti (sono anni che non perdiamo un'edizione e vedere decine di migliaia di persone immobili per un minuto è stata un'emozione incredibile).

Il 30 aprile presso il Tokyo Big Sight si è tenuta la prima edizione del Comic 1: ennesimo spinoff del più famoso Comiket.
