CHIPTUNE - How to make a Commodore 64 MIDI Interface with Arduino

di Frankie (03/29/2010 - 18:14)

iPod & TouchOSC Controlling a Real Commodore 64 (SID Chip)

Sebastian Tomczak
, on Little Scale, posted a guide to make a commodore-64 midi interface using an Arduino board! It gives the user real-time control over the SID chip via MIDI data in terms of basic synthesis. If you already have access to an Arduino , then this could be quite affordable. The setup (and the outcome) is relatively simple, but it works fine for me and what I need it for. You can use either a MIDI connection or a USB connection with a software-based serial to MIDI converter patch.

MidiVox shield = Synth for Arduino

di Frankie (03/21/2010 - 22:14)

MidiVox turns an Arduino board into a programmable MIDI synthesizer.

The assembled kit provides an isolated MIDI input jack along with a single-channel, 12-bit, digital audio output. Any MIDI keyboard with a DIN-5 output can be used to control the shield. Assignable knobs/faders on your controller will come in handy for modifying synth parameters as sou play.

Super Mario Open Source with Arduino and a 8x8 LED matrix

di Frankie (03/15/2010 - 10:29)

Chloe Fan created a one dot Mariovideogame using an Arduino and a LED matrix. The gameplay is "zen": one button makes Mario move forward and the other makesthe pixel hero jump. Level maps come from Super Pixel Bros (bit.ly/superpixbros) transcribed by hand into bytes -- solid areas are 1's and empty areas are 0's and OST is based on mariopiano.com transcribed notes are used with piezo code.

Arduino vs Gakken Tour 2010

di Frankie (03/07/2010 - 10:06)

I'm just back from 3 days in Ivrea for the Arduino vs Gakken press tour. We had really great fun with Gianluca Martino, Massimo Banzi and David Cuartielles (in the photo interviewed by Shigeru Kaneko: the mastermind of the cult Japanese magazine Otona no Kagaku)! Also the Japanese distributor Shigeru Kanemoto joined us in these full immersion with the creators of the most famous Italian tech project of the last 20 years!

Food in Ivrea (Piemonte) is great!! It's a shame that there is not sensorama on the web as the aroma of these "Ravioli al tartufo" (truffle pasta) was even better than the one in the Arduino's PCB manifacturing company!

MEGGY JR RGB: Open Source Handheld

di Frankie (11/13/2008 - 04:36)

Meggy Jr RGB is a new Kit designed as a platform to develop handheld pixel games. MEggy looks like a Gameboy from the Seventies and got a super cool design! It's based around a fully addressable 8x8 RGB LED matrix display. The kit is driven by an ATmega168 microcontroller, and you can write your own games or or control it through the Arduino development environment. Prices range from $65 to $95 so it's a perfect Christmas present for all videogame hackers out there!

Open Source Game boy

di Frankie (10/28/2008 - 11:11)

Matt from Liquidware Antipasto created an Open Source GameBoy using an Arduino:
"it's a little smaller than a game boy, but it's 1000% cooler (in my opinion) because it uses an Arduino as the "core", and a few modules and shields that already exist."
